The WDA Motorsport Initiative is sponsoring S4C's coverage of the World Rally Championships. The initiative is designed to maximise the economic benefits of Wales' role as host of the final stage of the championship.
Produced for S4C by Llanelli's POP1 TV, Ralio will follow each stage of the 2005 World Rally Championships as well as the British Rally Championship
The sponsorship agreement with the Welsh Development Agency was negotiated by Val Harmer, S4C's commercial sponsorship consultant, and Gareth John, the WDA's executive director, marketing.
Wyn Innes, managing director of S4C Masnachol, S4C's commercial arm, said, "S4C had a tremendous response to its rallying programme last year and we're delighted to be bringing regular, prime time coverage of the event during 2005, which is certain to please Wales' legions of rallying fans.
"We're delighted that the Wales Rally GB Motorsport Initiative has come on board and we look forward to spreading the rallying message to viewers across Wales and further afield."
Gareth John, the WDA's executive director, marketing, says, "We're excited about the opportunities offered by Ralio, which we see as providing us with a potent channel through which we can further endorse the Wales Rally GB brand and emphasise its links with the economic development benefits of the Motorsport Initiative.
"Not least, it gives us the chance to help highlight Wales' rallying credentials, both in terms of providing an unrivalled location and in ensuring that the benefits of hosting the event are felt throughout the whole of Wales."
