No hiding place?

SpeedgunMore speed cameras are being introduced onto Britain’s road, but some problems have cropped up. The UK ANPR system is supposed to scan number plates and alert police if a car is stolen, hasn’t got a valid tax disc or MoT, or if the driver is uninsured. It is also supposed to check whether there is a warrant for the arrest of the driver.

Suzuki Malaysia to Seal Mahindra Deal

Suzuki DRB-HICOM Bhd, has signed an agreement to distribute and import completely built-up (CBU) Suzuki motor vehicles and spare parts. The distributorship agreement was signed with Suzuki Motor Corp of Japan and the import agreement with Suzuki Motor and Global Worldtrade Sdn Bhd. The distributorship agreement is for four years and will be renewed annually. DRB-HICOM Bhd is now expected add Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd to their portfolio of foreign car brands after sealing the franchises of Suzuki yesterday and Mitsubishi last November

'I was going a bit fast'

A biker in South Africa, who waved at traffic officers as he sped by at 275 km an hour was finally caught and slapped with a R31 000 fine. The biker claimed he didn't hear the sirens as traffic officers chased him. Johan Bark-huizen, 38, was unrepentant, claiming he was going "too fast to stop" his 1 200 cc Kawasaki and that he didn't try to escape, but left the freeway by the nearest offramp to turn round and go back to the traffic officers. However, police officers said he tried repeatedly to escape and they had to block the entire freeway to catch him.

Fifth Gear DVD Downloads

Channel FiveChannel five is to become the first TV download shop by giving viewers the opportunity to download DVD-quality clips of popular car show Fifth Gear. You won’t be able to downlad whole episodes, but petrolheads will be able to download snippets of things like the BMW 1 series and the race between the Lamborghini Gallardo and the Ducati 999 for £1.50 each. It will also provide program features such as reviews of 12 cars and 'shoot-outs', which involve races between two similar vehicles.

Renault and Mahindra Joint Venture Deal

Renault LoganFrench car maker Renault and Mahindra group have signed a joint venture agreement to build and sell Renault's entry-level midsize Logan car in India as of 2007. The Logan will be marketed under the brand of Mahindra Renault. Mahindra will hold a 51 per cent stake in the car venture while Renault will hold 49 per cent, they said in a joint statement. Mahindra will use its extensive dealer network to distribute the car in the country. A right-hand version of Logan will also be developed by Renault in partnership with Mahindras to meet the needs of India and other right-hand drive markets.

Cough Syrup Addicts Steal Cars

Yes you did read it correctly! Two engineering graduates in India who got addicted to the cough syrup, Corex, took to stealing cars so they could afford their daily dose of around 16 bottles. Police recovered six stolen cars from the accused Amanjeet Singh, Harpreet Singh and Gurdas, both of whom have a BE degree. The police claimed to have solved 47 cases with the arrest. On interrogation, the two disclosed that during their college they had started consuming Corex and pain killer capsule, Proxivon.
