Avoid Bank Holiday Hell

Vehicle BreakdownAs the August bank holiday approaches, Green Flag Motoring Assistance is gearing up for an inevitably busy weekend, and offers motorists some timely advice to avoid having a breakdown or getting in a jam. Last August bank holiday Green Flag responded to almost 15,000 calls for help, mostly caused by battery problems and minor accidents. The busiest time was between 9am and 10am on Tuesday August 31, when Green Flag attended over 300 incidents in just one hour as people returned to work.

Motorists Can't Change Flat Tyres

BreakdownNearly half of motorists in the UK cannot change a car tyre, and basic vehicle maintenance is also beyond most drivers, according to a survey from the Saga Motoring Assistance Company. About the same number do not check what is wrong with their vehicle before asking for help.

1.8 Million British Motorists Shun Winter Safety

Winter-Motoring Research from Kwik Fit reveals that a huge 1.8 million (7%) British motorists make no attempt, whatsoever, to check that their car is safe to drive in Winter driving conditions. Kwik-Fit's Fitter For Winter research reveals that even though one-in-four British motorists have broken down due to wintry conditions, alarming levels of negligence still exist when it comes to basic winter car maintenance.
